NZ Eventing manager likes tougher cross country course

The high performance manager for New Zealand Eventing is expecting more from his riders following what was a disappointing Badminton Horse Trial over the weekend.

Tim Price was the best New Zealand finisher in ninth place, while Sir Mark Todd was 14th and both of Andrew Nicholson's horses failed to finish the cross country.

In fact only 35 combinations from an original 83 starters were still going after the cross country.

Erik Duvander, who will also play a part in the selection of the New Zealand team for this year's World Equestrian games in France, didn't have a problem with the cross country course.

Duvander says even though Nicholson failed to finish Badminton, he remains the leading contender for the New Zealand team for the World Games.
