Defender Rio Ferdinand is to leave Manchester United in the off-season after he wasn't offered a new contract.

The 35-year-old's departure will bring to an end a 12-year stay at the English football club, for whom he has made over 400 appearances.

Ferdinand played in United's final game of the season on Monday, a 1-1 draw at Southampton.

The BBC is reporting that he intends to continue playing but his next club is still unknown.

In his time at United Ferdinand won six Premier League titles, two League Cups and a Champions League title.
