NZ Basketball still hopeful of Adams playing in the World Cup

Basketball New Zealand chief executive Iain Potter says there's still a chance Steven Adams will be available for the World Cup.

Adams has made an impressive start to his NBA career this season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, but it's been reported the seven foot centre will opt out of September's World Cup in Spain.

Potter says Adams is under no obligation to play for the Tall Blacks, but he hopes to convince the Thunder that the World Cup will enhance Adams' development.

Potter believes playing at the World Cup would certainly help Adams develop.
