An 11-year-old golfer will make history at the US women's Open as the youngest player in the tournament's history.

The American Lucy Li won her qualifying event, shooting even par over the two rounds at the Half Moon Bay Golf Club to advance to the Open at Pinehurst next month.

Li is the youngest ever player to qualify, beating the mark of Lexi Thompson, who was 12 when she qualified in 2007.
