Easy first up win for Erakovic in Paris

12:08 pm on 27 May 2014

The New Zealand tennis number one Marina Erakovic is through to the second round at the French Open for the third time after a straight sets win over unseeded Ukrainian Nadiya Kichenok.

The 26-year-old world number 60, has been struggling for form this year but was far too good for her 117th ranked opponent.

Erakovic concedes her performance wasn't as clinical as she would have liked, but says she rarely hits her best form so early in a grand slam.

Erakovic breezed through the match in less than an hour, but will face a much tougher task in the second round against the former Wimbledon champion Czech world number six and fifth seed Petra Kvitova, who's beaten Erakovic in all three of the previous matches they've played.
