BJ Watling scored 50 and Neil Wagner took a five-wicket bag as the New Zealand cricketers' first warm-up game on their tour of the West Indies ended in a draw.

Their opponents, a Jamaican XI, declared their first innings on day two at 171 for nine with a lead of 59 runs.

The Black Caps batted out the second and final day reaching 210 for six.

The Otago off-spinner Mark Craig took three wickets in the first innings, but was rested on day two with a sore leg.

The Black Caps could be joined by their captain Brendon McCullum for the next warm up game starting on Monday, after McCullum's Indian Premier League team Chennai was beaten by Punjab in the eliminator final.

Punjab will play Kolkata in Monday's final.
