The Jamaican XI has ended the first day on 94 for five in reply to New Zealand's first innings of 112 for six declared in their two-day cricket tour match in Trelawny.

After deciding to bat first the Black Caps struggled on the slow grassless wicket, eventually declaring at tea on 112 for six, with Tom Latham making 33, Luke Ronchi 21, while Ish Sodhi was unbeaten on 23 and debutant Mark Craig 11.

Otago off-spinner Craig then picked up three wickets and Neil Wagner two.
