Football Ferns to host Brazil

1:10 pm on 31 May 2014

New Zealand Football has announced the national women's team will host Brazil for two matches in June.

The world number six Brazilians will meet the 20th-ranked Football Ferns in Auckland at Mt Smart Stadium on June 16th, before shifting to Taupo for the second match of the series at Owen Delany Park on June 19th.

The matches will be the first time the national side have played in New Zealand since June 2012 - a run of 27 away matches - where the home side claimed two wins against China in Auckland.

The Football Ferns' last outing was a narrow 2-1 defeat by world number three Japan in Osaka in May.

The news follows the Junior Football Ferns 1-0 friendly loss to Brazil in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday morning.
