Brisbane Roar narrowly avoid record breaking loss

The Brisbane Roar football team have avoided a club record fifth consecutive A-League loss but failed to impress in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle at Suncorp Stadium.

The return of seasoned performers Danny Tiatto, who lasted 72 minutes before fatigue and soreness forced him off, and captain Craig Moore at the back gave Brisbane a more assured look.

But they couldn't find the match winner after the scores were locked at halftime ensuring there was no relief for new coach Ange Postecoglou.

All up the home side had eight shots at goal but Jets keeper Ben Kennedy was on song for most of the night.
