South Africa have signalled their heavyweight credentials at the IRB Junior Rugby World Championship, by thrashing Scotland 61-5 in their opening match at Auckland's North Harbour Stadium.
The Junior Springboks scored nine tries to the Scots' lone five-pointer, scoring 47 unanswered points after leading 14-5 at half-time.
Wales also thrashed Fiji 48-19 in their opening match at Pukekohe.
Australia kicked off the World Cup by seeing off Argentina 36-17, also at Pukekohe, while the reigning champions England showed they'll be contenders, thrashing Italy 63-3.
