The New Zealand tennis number one Marina Erakovic says practice has paid off after reaching the quarter-finals of the doubles at the French Open.

The 26-year-old Aucklander was knocked out in the second round of the singles in Paris, but has progressed further in the doubles with her Spanish partner Arantxa Parra Santonja.

Erakovic says it's sometimes tough to focus on doubles when you're practising for singles, but she's managed to put some time into the doubles lately too.

Erakovic faces an unseeded Czech and Dutch combination in Wednesday night's quarter final.
