2:32 pm on 4 June 2014

The rules have been announced for the next America's Cup with a new AC 62 boat to be used with a crew of eight.

The new boats are smaller than those used in San Francisco last year.

There will be a three-year racing programme around the world from 2015 with races counting towards qualification for the 35th edition of the Cup. The top four will then compete in a playoff series to find the challenger.

A nationality rule has also been introduced requiring at least 25 percent of each crew to be nationals of the respective country's challenge.

Holder's Oracle are yet to announce where the next America's Cup will be held.

Team New Zealand is yet to commit to the next Cup.
