Breakers let Corletto go

3:27 pm on 4 June 2014

The Breakers have released Australian shooting guard Daryl Corletto from the fianl year of his contract with the Australian national basketball league club.

Corletto has been with the club for three years helping them to two championship titles in that time.

The Breakers coach Dean Vickerman says releasing Corletto wasn't an easy decision but with the development of guard Corey Webster, Corletto would've been reduced to a back up role.

Webster has come through the Breakers Academy and Development Player systems and Vickerman says while he's still developing his talent is such that he and others are demanding more court time.

The Breakers have five roster positions to fill for the 2014-15 season with two import spots and three local positions still open.

Players signed and returning for the club are Alex Pledger, Tom Abercrombie, Mika Vukona, Corey Webster and Reuben Te Rangi.

Vickerman will travel to the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas following the conclusion of the New Zealand NBL finals to continue his recruiting for the upcoming season.
