The New Zealand driver and defending IndyCar champion Scott Dixon has qualified seventh fastest at the latest race in Texas.
Series leader Australian Will Power is on pole, with Josef Newgarden second and Dixon's team-mate Tony Kanaan third.
Dixon is eighth in the drivers standings, 142 points behind Power.
