The New Zealand cricketers have made a solid start to the first Test against the West Indies at Sabina Park in Jamaica.

After winning the toss and deciding to bat first, the Black Caps have moved through to 72 for 1 just after lunch.... Peter Fulton made just 1, while Tom Latham is on 39 and Kane Williamson 23.

The Otago off-spinner Mark Craig will make his debut, while Hamish Rutherford and Neil Wagner missed selection.

All-rounder Corey Anderson was ruled out yesterday with a neck muscle strain, while Luke Ronchi wasn't considered for the Test due to a chest infection.
