Queensland's State of Origin injury crisis has deepened with forward Josh Papalii ruled out of action due to an ankle injury.

Papalii rolled his ankle late in Brisbane's Monday night NRL win over Canberra, and the Raiders' enforcer will miss three to four weeks of football.

Papalii was one of 22 players named by Maroons selectors during the match, with injury concerns already over Greg Inglis, Billy Slater and Daly Cherry-Evans.

Queensland were beaten 12-8 in the first State of Origin match in Brisbane.
