New Zealand BMX riders missed out on the grand finals on a challenging wet track at the Supercross World Cup in Berlin.

All seven riders qualified for Sunday's elimination rounds, but most were caught in crashes on the difficult surface and tight track in Germany.

Best were North Canterbury's Trent Jones and US-based Cambridge rider Marc Willers, who made the semi-finals.

Sarah Walker qualified third in the quarter-final motos with a second and two third placings but was caught in a crash in the semi-final, eventually finishing sixth.

Junior Hannah Sarten finished seventh in the motos in her first World Cup.

Double Olympic champion Maris Strombergs took out the men's final while current world champion Caroline Buchanan took out the women's title.

The squad will now prepare for next month's world championships in Rotterdam.
