Fitzgerald admits failing to covert turnovers cost them against Firebirds

The Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic netball coach Julie Fitzgerald says her side was unable to make the most of their turnovers in the ANZ Championship preliminary final loss to Queensland.

The Firebirds go on to meet Melbourne in the final after holding off a fast finishing Magic side for a 54-50 win in Brisbane on Monday night.

Fitzgerald concedes the Firebirds deserved their victory but rued an inability to convert a host of turnovers through the second and third quarters.

She says she was really pleased with their defensive effort but they tended to squander too much at their attack end and failed to take advantage of their opportunities.

Fitzgerald says a lot of that is experience and they're a team that has come an enormous way in a short amount of time, and they still have a lot to give.
