Watmough to miss Origin III

Bitterly disappointed New South Wales back rower Anthony Watmough says he'll cop his four-game ban on the chin after failing to win a downgrade of his dangerous lifting charge at the NRL judiciary.

Watmough disputed the grading of his dangerous throw tackle on Queensland prop Nate Myles in Wednesday night's State of Origin thriller, won 6-4 by the Blues thanks to Trent Hodkinson scoring the only try of game two seven minutes from time then converting it, to end eight years of Queensland dominance.

Watmough was put on report and slapped with a grade two charge over his tackle, which flipped Myles over, the Maroons forward landing on his shoulder.

Meanwhile Brent Tate's future hangs in the balance after the Queensland veteran suffered the fourth major knee injury of his career.
