Bulldogs snap NRL losing streak

The Canterbury Bulldogs have beaten Canberra 22-14 to snap their National Rugby League losing streak in Canberra.

New South Wales halves Trent Hodkinson and Josh Reynolds backed up after their State of Origin heroics to steer the Bulldogs home on Friday night at Canberra Stadium and get their first win in four games.

Bulldogs coach Des Hasler praised his star playmaking duo for backing up after Origin, adding that Canterbury halfback Hodkinson, who was struggling with a leg cork after the Blues' win over the Maroons, only flew down to Canberra on the day of the match after previously being ruled out.

Hasler says just having Hodkinson and Josh Reynolds out there to steer the team gave the players around them a lot of confidence.

The match featured several heated scuffles between Reynolds and Raiders lock Shaun Fensom, with Bulldogs captain Michael Ennis putting it down to both sides' respective losing streaks leading into the clash.

The Raiders now have just one win from their last seven games and look unlikely to make the final eight playoffs.
