Hansen says they didn't want to make too many changes in the backline

The All Blacks coach Steve Hansen says Beauden Barrett misses out on a start this week because they didn't want to have two new combinations in the backline.

Malakai Fekitoa will start alongside Ma'a Nonu in the centres in the third Test against England in Hamilton, while Aaron Cruden retains the number 10 jersey.

Barrett has impressed coming off the bench in the first two Tests and Hansen says they put a lot of thought into starting him.

No.8 Kieran Read gets his first outing of the series, but Hansen says the plan is to only play him for 40 to 50 minutes and then replace him with Liam Messam.
