BlackCaps will have a coach by the end of the year

New Zealand Cricket is confident a new BLACKCAPS coach will be named by the end of the year - and in place in time for the Bangladesh home series starting in February.

Chief executive Justin Vaughn says there is no rush and it's important that they make the right appointment.

Vaughn says they've begun a scoping exercise to clearly define the exact requirements for the position.

He says the position won't be openly advertised, and they'll actively identify potential candidates they want to talk to.

Vaughn says he has received a number of strong inquiries from both New Zealand and overseas.

New Zealand Cricket is looking for a new coach after Andy Moles stood down last month.... the former international John Wright is seen as a strong candidate.
