Lou Vincent 'I am a cheat'

11:36 am on 2 July 2014

The former New Zealand batsman Lou Vincent has confirmed he'll be banned from cricket for life for match-fixing.

In a statement Vincent says the ban relates to five matches and involves 26 charges in all.

Vincent says he is a cheat and has abused his position as a professional sportsman on a number of occasions by choosing to accept money through fixing.

The matches are believed to involve games in English county cricket and the rebel ICL competition in India.

He says he has shamed his country, his sport and those close to him.

Vincent says he has lived with the secret for many years but only recently reached the point where he had to come forward and tell the truth.

He goes on to say he now believes in himself as a person and doesn't wake up every morning

hating himself.

Vincent also apologises to the public and the cricketing world for his actions.
