Hosts Brazil have beaten Colombia 2-1 in Fortaleza, to set up a football World Cup semi-final against Germany.
The Germans earlier edged France 1-0 in Rio to reach the semi-finals for a fourth straight tournament.
Poor defending allowed Brazil captain Thiago Silva to tap in the opening goal from a corner in the seventh minute for the half-time lead.
Then defender David Luiz lashed in a spectacular long-range free kick to make it 2-0 right on the 68th minute.
Ten minutes later, Colombian striker James Rodriguez was brought down in the box by Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar, earning a penalty which he coolly converted for his sixth goal in five games.
While that proved to be too little, too late for the Colombians, the victory came at a cost for Brazil, whose star Neymar suffered a back injury late in the second half. He was taken off the field and sent to hospital.
Captain Silva is also suspended for the final-four clash with the Germans after a second yellow card of the tournament.
