The former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole has joined the Italian football club Roma on a two-year deal.
The Serie A club tweeted a photograph of the 33-year-old and confirmed on their website that he has signed a contract until 2016.
The left back was a free agent after Chelsea opted not to offer him a new deal at the end of the season.
According to the Italian media, the former Chelsea left-back Cole was to sign a two-year deal worth $3.5 million a year, with an option for a third season, as Roma look to strengthen their squad ahead of their return to the Champions League next season.
Chelsea said goodbye to Cole last week after his trophy-laden eight years at Stamford Bridge where he won the Premier League, Champions League and Europa League, as well four FA Cup titles.
