The Welsh rugby team have survived potential embarrassment after edging past Samoa 17-13 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
Winger Leigh Halfpenny scored an early try and also kicked a penalty with five-eighth Dan Bigger kicking nine points.
But Samoa, who only got together this week, dominated the closing period.
Centre Seilala Mapusua claimed an interception try, with five-eighth Fa'atonu Fili slotting two penalties and a conversion.
Samoa wasted two golden opportunities to score late tries but poor handling and some desperate Welsh defending eased the home side's worries.
