After claiming their fourth football World Cup title and first since 1990, the question now is whether or not the German team can go on and dominate for years to come.

Now that a European team have won for the first time in South America, is the football world witnessing a shift in power?

The Germany coach Joachim Löwsays their victory is the result of a decade of hard work.

The Germans snatched victory against Argentina with a superb extra-time goal from baby-faced Mario Goetze to win 1-0.

The tournament produced 171 goals to equal the record set at the 1998 finals in France.
