A Danish football supporter has been ordered to pay almost a quarter of a million dollars in compensation for causing the abandonment of a European qualifier against Sweden in 2007.
The Group F tie was locked at 3-all with 89 minutes played when Ronni Noervig attacked referee Herbert Fandel after he awarded a penalty to Sweden.
Sweden was awarded a 3-nil victory while Denmark had to play two qualifiers away from its Copenhagen national stadium.
Denmark had originally sued Noervig for 380 thousand dollars in lost ticket sales.
However, the Copenhagen City Court ruled that Noervig, who lives in Sweden, should pay less because of "insufficient security" at the stadium.
Noervig, who had argued that none of the stadium's guards had tried to stop him from jumping on to the pitch, is yet to decide whether he will appeal against the decision.
He was earlier sentenced to 20 days in jail for attacking Fandel, who awarded the penalty after sending off Danish defender Christian Poulsen for punching Sweden's Markus Rosenberg in the stomach.
Noervig admitted that he was drunk and that he entered the pitch illegally, but rejected a violence charge.
The Parken stadium has since erected a new fence, hired more guards for major football matches and stopped drunken fans from attending the matches.
