In similar fashion to the women's game yesterday, New Zealand were in control of the game from the opening moments with Phil Burrows, Simon Child, Hugo Inglis and Alex Shaw all scoring one goal each and Shay Neal and Nick Haig scoring a double.

The Black Sticks lead 4-nil at half-time.

Two games in, the New Zealand captain Dean Couzins is pleased with the team's performance and says they will be using the next couple of days to rest and recover, so they can refocus ahead of critical games against second ranked England and 13th ranked Malaysia.

Although key drag flicker Andy Hayward played in the opening game against Canada, he was rested today to give him a four day break ahead of the England match and the back-to-back games that are scheduled for the end of the tournament.

The Black Sticks Women play their next game against India at 3am tomorrow morning (NZ time), while the New Zealand men face England at 8pm on Tuesday night (NZ time).
