The pool and the athletics track are expected to offer New Zealand's best medal chances on day six of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Double Commonwealth Games silver medallist Nikki Hamblin will attempt to add to her medals from Delhi four years ago, when she lines up in the 1500 metres final at Hampden Park at 8.50am in the morning.

Hamblin qualified second fastest in the event, running a time of 4:05.08.

Para-swimmer Sophie Pascoe will go for her second gold medal of the games when she takes to the pool in the S10 100m individual medley final at 7am.

Lauren Boyle's also a chance to add to the silver medal won in the 800 metre freestyle when she swims in the 400 freestyle final at 6.05am, although it's not her favoured event.

At the Carnoustie shooting range, Sally Johnston is back in action after winning the 50 metre prone event and will shoot for another medal in the 50 rifle three position at 4.15am, along with Jenna McKenzie.

Myles Browne-Cole will also feature at the range in the men's trap from 8pm, after finishing with 44 points in the first qualifying round.

New Zealand will have four riders in the mountain biking cross-country with Karen Hanlen and Kate Fluker in the women's final at 10.30pm and Anton Cooper and Samuel Gaze in the men's event at 1am.

The men's hockey team take on England at 8pm in pool play, while the netballers play St Lucia at 10.30pm and the female boxers, Alexis Pritchard (12.40am), and Magan Maka (6:30am) each begin their campaigns in the round of 16.

New Zealand have won 27 medals in total and sit sixth on the medal table, with the eight golds won already eclipsing the six achieved in Delhi four years ago.
