Silver Ferns' planning out the window

The Silver Ferns coach Wai Taumaunu says she's been impressed with the resilience her side has shown, in reaching the Commonwealth Games semi-finals unbeaten.

New Zealand beat Jamaica 50-42 in their final pool match after trailling 24-23 at half-time.

A strong defensive effort by veteran Silver Ferns Casey Kopua and Leanna de Bruin helped propel New Zealand to a come from behind win over Jamaica.

The Silver Ferns had to rely on the relatively untried combination of Jodi Brown and newcomer Ellen Halpenny with her first choice shooting combination of Maria Tutaia and Cathrine Latu out injured.

Taumaunu admits a lot of their planning has gone out the window so they're having to be fairly creative and respond intuitively, which is unchartered territory.

But she says the team have shown resolve and resilience beyond perhaps what she has seen in the past so from that perspective it's really pleasing.

The win means the defending Games champions avoid playing arch-rivals Australia in the semis and will instead meet England on Saturday evening for a place in the gold medal match, while Australia play Jamaica in the other top four game.
