Johnson to sit out another match

5:54 pm on 1 August 2014

Shaun Johnson's been ruled out of playing for the New Zealand Warriors on Sunday in Canberra, after the Kiwis league star limped out of training on Thursday with a groin injury.

Johnson didn't fly out with the squad on Friday.

It couldn't have come at a more key time in the season - the Auckland league club's on the cusp of a playoffs place in an incredibly tight NRL competition, but with six games left the Warriors look set to lose their star halfback again.

Johnson sat out last weekend's home loss to Manly and Warriors coach Andrew McFadden's not willing to risk the halfback if he's not 100 percent.

Johnson's absence means Thomas Leuluai will start in the halves and 19-year-old Tuimoala Lolohea will be in the 17.
