England level India series

2:21 pm on 1 August 2014

The England cricketers have ended a winless 10-match streak with a crushing 266-run win over India to level their Test series at 1-1 with two matches to play.

England spin bowler Moeen Ali took six for 67, including a spell of four for 17 in 22 balls, and India, chasing what would have been a record-winning 445, were bowled out for 178 before lunch on the fifth day in Southampton.

It's England's first Test win since they beat Australia 12 months ago in Durham.

One major concern for England is that their pace bowling man of the match, James Anderson, could miss the last two Tests if an ICC disciplinary hearing finds against him regarding his dust-up with Ravindra Jadeja during the drawn first Test at Trent Bridge.

The fourth Test in Manchester starts next Thursday night.
