The New Zealand rally driver Hayden Paddon is in 10th place after the first day of the Rally of Finland.
The Hyundai driver went into the opening day's four stages in 13th position, but improved in wet conditions, especially after recording the ninth-best time in stage three.
The Finn Jari-Matti Latvala leads overall in a Volkswagen, with Paddon one minute six seconds behind.
