Tottenham Hotspur has demolished Wigan Athletic 9-1, equalling the Premier League record for goals scored in a match and move into fourth.

Spurs had gone in 1-nil up at the break thanks to a ninth-minute Peter Crouch header before going on an 8 goal second-half blitz at White Hart Lane.

The England striker Jermaine Defoe, who scored five of Spurs nine goals, was spotted proudly clutching the match ball after the game and says he's never had a day quite like this.

In other matches Blackburn Rovers beat Bolton 2-nil and Stoke City kept Portsmouth at the bottom of the table with a 1-nil home win.

In Scotland Dundee United's beat Celtic 2-1 for their first win over the Glasgow giants in 10 years.
