Olympic champion Lisa Carrington has defended her K1 200 title in record time, adding to Teneale Hatton's record victory in the K1 1000.

Carrington also won the silver medal in the K1 500, finishing just half a second behind the winner.

Her victory in the 200 was emphatic, winning by almost a boat length, which is unusual in the short event.

High performance manager Grant Restall says Carrington's efforts are outstanding and show that the programme for her and Hatton is working well.

Restall says Carrington had a poor start in the 500 so could have pushed the Hungarian paddler even more.

With two golds and a silver New Zealand finishes fifth on the medal table behind Hungary, Russia, Germany and the Czech Republic.
