Windies get Gayle back but look set to lose Sarwan

The West Indies have regained skipper Chris Gayle but they may have lost key batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan for the first Test against Australia starting in Brisbane tomorrow, due to a training mishap.

Sarwan suffered a back injury when he fell awkwardly during a fielding drill.

Sarwan's loss would be a massive blow to the tourists whose strength is their top-order with the compact right-hander, Gayle and Shivnarine Chanderpaul all world-class batsmen.

Gayle, who flew into Brisbane this morning was on hand at training and batted in the nets after rushing home to Kingston last week to be with his mother, who was admitted to hospital with heart problems.

She is now recovering at her home.
