Proteas thrash Zimbabwe

The South African cricketers wound up their one-off Test against Zimbabwe with a nine-wicket win in Harare.

The home side were dismissed for 181 in their second innings leavign the Proteas only 41 runs for victory.

Dane Piedt produced the best performance by a debutant South African spinner with match figures of eight for 152.

And fast bowler Dale Steyn finished with eight for 84 in the match to move level with Ian Botham on 383 careers Test scalps, 13th on the list of most wicket takers.

Proteas captain Hashim Amla says Piedt bowled exceptionally well, the wicket did turn and offered a lot of assistance to the spinners, but the 24-year-old bowled brilliantly.

The win means South Africa stay top of the Test rankings.

It is the first time the two African neighbours had met in 10 years.
