The New Zealand women's softball team has enjoyed a rare win at the world championships in the Netherlands, beating the Czech Republic 7-3 in their latest match.
They now have two wins and three losses with their next two games against China and Puerto Rica crucial in their bid to make the top eight playoffs.
Despite a shaky start in the field the Sox didn't concede a run in the first inning.
In their first turn at bat Hutt Valley's Danica Ferriso forced an error at short stop, she was then advanced to second base with a hit from Ellie Cooper.
White Sox captain Lara Andrews then forced another another error at short stop scoring Ferriso with Auckland's Katrina Nukunuku then brought both Cooper and Andrews home.
Rebecca Bromhead from Auckland added to the tally in the second innings with a booming hit over the left field fence for New Zealand's first automatic home run.
Nukunuku was able to bring home Jennifer Feret in the third innings and two more runs were added in the sixth innings after a two hour rain delay off the bats of Kyla Bromhead and pinch hitter Stacey Webbers.
Feret started on the mound with relief pitcher Megan Farrell coming in the third innings. Both pitchers had a good performance in conceding only three hits.
The Czech Republic scored two runs in the second nd innings and an automatic in the seventh innings for their three run total in what was a feisty game with several contentious calls.
