Walsh threw a best of 20.79 metres with his last effort to finish behind Reese Hoffa of the United States and just ahead of world champion David Storl of Germany.

Walsh also gained some measure of revenge over O'Dayne Richards, the man who pipped him in Glasgow, with the Jamaican finishing fifth.

Walsh is fifth in the Diamond League standings, with Hoffa increasing his lead.

Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Zane Robertson finished 12th in the 5,000 metres, 27 seconds slower than he ran in Glasgow.
