Glenn Snyders has made a record-breaking start to the national short course swimming championships in Wellington.
The 27 year old North Shore swimmer clocked 57.67 seconds to be the fastest qualifier in the 100m breaststroke at the Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre in Kilbirnie.
Snyders, who's now based in the United States, went under his own previous record of 57.82 seconds, set at the FINA World Cup in Berlin three years ago.

It's the 11th fastest time in the world this year and was also well under the qualifying mark for the world short course champs to be held in Doha in December.
The next fastest was Howick Pakuranga's Jeffrey Arona-Tuifana'e almost four seconds further back.
Snyders' fellow Commonwealth Games teammates Matthew Stanley and Samantha Lee were fastest in heats for the 200m freestyle.
