The para-swimmers Mary Fisher and Nikita Howarth have continued the world record blitz while Matthew Stanley broke a national record at the national short course swimming championships in Wellington.

Fisher, who broke three world records on Thursday, broke the world mark in heats of the 100 metre butterfly on the penultimate morning of heats.

The 21-year-old Fisher clocked 1:15.82, which was 4.5 seconds inside the previous record.

The 15-year-old Howarth, who recently competed at the Commonwealth Games, broke the world mark in her disability for the same event with a 1:23.15 swim, which was more than three seconds inside the previous record.

In the evening, freestyle swimmer Matthew Stanley broke the national record in the 200 metres backstroke, while fellow Aucklander Lauren Boyle cruised to victory in the 800 freestyle.
