Sky loses golf rights

Sky Television has confirmed it has lost the rights to the US PGA golf, the European PGA Tour and the Asian Tour for next season.

The pay television operator notified the New Zealand share market is had been unsuccessful in a bid to renew the rights for the three tours.

It says the three properties represented 1.1 percent of total viewer hours across all Sky channels last year.

A spokesperson says it doesn't know who has won the rights for the upcoming season.

Sky still holds the rights to the US Masters, the British Open and the Australian Open for 2015.
