Unbeaten home run ends for Phoenix

12:35 pm on 13 December 2009

Wellington Phoenix's unbeaten run of 14 home games in football's A-League has ended with a 1-0 loss to Sydney FC.

The Phoenix blew a blew of chances to make the A-League record of unbeaten home games their own when they couldn't counter Steve Corica's first-half penalty at their "home away from home", FMG Stadium in Palmerston North.

Going into the match without several key players the Phoenix still had several chances to at least set a new record for consecutive unbeaten games at home - a record they now share with Sydney.

The loss leaves the Phoenix seventh on 21 points in the 10-team competition led by Melbourne, who beat the Central Coast Mariners 3-0 while Adelaide beat Brisbane 1-0.
