New Zealand's beaten Fiji 21-12 in the final of the South Africa rugby sevens at George for back-to-back wins in the series after not winning a single tournament last year.

The winners in Dubai last weekend had to come from behind twice in the play-offs before beating England 22-19 and Kenya 17-14.

Coach Gordon Tietjens says they didn't play particuarly well after losing to Samoa in their opening pool match but he's proud of the way they fought through to a final they deserved to win.

Led by their inspirational captain DJ Forbes, New Zealand were ahead 7-0 at half-time and will go to the third tournament in Wellington in February with a maximum 48 points.
