Watling's batting impressses Vettori

The New Zealand cricket captain Dan Vettori says although rain in Napier denied the Black Caps a rare series win, their bowling and batting on the last day of the drawn third test against Pakistan helped ease the disappointment.

Vettori says they did well to take the remaining six Pakistani second innings wickets yesterday before their opening batsman BJ Watling and Tim McIntosh set them on course for victory.

Watling made 60 as New Zealand reached 90 without loss chasing 208 but the rain arrived with 24 overs still to be bowled.

Pakistan start their Australian tour this week.
