The mounting pressure on Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has eased somewhat with his side scoring a morale-boosting 2-1 win over Wigan in the English Premier Football League.
The win's only Liverpool's fourth in the last 16 games and whether this will be a false dawn like the other wins remains to be seen.
But they moved up to sixth in the league courtesy of a much-needed three points and also marked a special occasion for the club which was celebrating the 50th anniversary since former manager Bill Shankly took over at the Reds and earned legendary status during nearly 15 years in charge.
Benitez says it was important to claim the win following their defeat to Arsenal earlier in the week...
Liverpool are still 13 points behind leaders Chelsea who beat Portsmouth 2-1, Arsenal are third after a 1-all draw at Burnley and Tottenham are 5th after a 3-nil win over manchester City.
