The All Whites coach Ricki Herbert say his top players, should be available to play Mexico in Los Angeles on March 3 in the first of up to six warm up matches for the football World Cup in South Africa.
Herbert says as the match is in a midweek international window set aside for friendlies he's not expecting clubs to object to releasing the likes of captain Ryan Nelsen, Rory Fallon and Chris Killen.
He says it'll be a massive game for his players, who need to stretch themselves by playing away from home against quality opposition in front of big crowds.
Mexico's ranked 17th in the world, 63 places above New Zealand.
