The Magpies will face either Manawatu or Southland, who play their semi-final today, in next weekend's final, with the winner to gain promotion to the Premiership division for next season.

Hawke's Bay will be looking to avenge last season's loss in the title decider.

Both of the Magpies tries at McLean Park came off the back of a powerful scrum, with the hosts claiming set piece domination.

First-five Ihaia West and midfielder Robbie Fruean were instrumental in both the home side's tries, while West also had a flawless night with the boot, kicking six goals from six attempts.

Northland outscored Hawke's Bay three tries to two but couldn't make the Magpies pay with first five Dan Hawkins converting just two of his five attempts on goal.
