The Penrith utility Dallin Watene-Zelezniak has been forced out of the Four Nations rugby league competition, after failing to recover from a foot injury.
He was set to make his debut on the wing for New Zealand.
St George Illawarra utility Gerard Beale will replace Watene-Zelezniak in the starting 13, while Brisbane fullback Josh Hoffman has been called up to the squad.
The Kiwis face the Kangaroos in Saturday's Four Nations opener in Brisbane, while England face Samoa in the double-header's curtain-raiser.
